  The wine tasting was great! We got to know some history and facts. We spent some time trying the drinks and in fact even heard one more story from the table nearby where the guy also told more facts and some different info. The staff speak several languages for sure! It’s rather interesting and a must to try in Porto. You can choose different options for Porto tasting and even some snacks to go with it.   The experience was absolutely amazing! Me and friend each got the €15 package and it didn’t disappoint, it came with 4 different glasses of wine and 4 chocolates that much each wine. We had an intern who described the wine’s flavours, process and how the chocolate matched with that wine. If in Porto I highly recommend coming here.   Along side the river you have several occasions to taste some port. This one has a great view and a nice lounge terrace. You can taste the different ports, enjoy a variety of cocktails with port.   Cons: The website does not match the experience. There's no virtual reality tour, only a small auditorium with kind of off beat wine videos. Also, service when you enter is awful - indifferent, didn't know what we were asking about, and not acknowledging us upon entry or exit at all. Service at the shop was also not great - he initially was sure he didn't have our wine, but then had a full cupboard. It's like they preferred to deny vs accommodate. Pros: The wines are delicious! We had four different ones in our group - the rosé, tawny, ruby and LBV 2003. The ambiance on the rooftop is delightful - view of the river, open air, just lovely. Service on the rooftop is also fabulous - warm, friendly, inviting and so helpful. If you just want to enjoy a glass of wine, nibbles and a nice view of the river - great choice! If you want to taste or learn about wine, give it a miss and ignore what the website promises. Better going to Calem, Sandeman or Kopke.   The workers were incredibly unkind. I was so glad to meet reception woman, she was so adorable and kind but the men who made me incredibly uncomfortable were not. The wine was so delicious and fantastic but compared with the wine, the workers made me unhappy. I was trying to drink more glasses of wines but I didn't because they made me want to go out.   I don’t understand why they employ kids at this chocolate factory. Our server only liked sweet things and could not recommend anything outside of a cavity-guaranteed sugar bomb. I eventually ordered the Aperol Spritz by the server’s recommendation of the “non-sweet” drink and it was basically 75 % Aperol. Which is maybe a high-value cocktail by cost? But it was essentially candy. If you consider yourself a bar establishment, then you should probably offer a wide variety of drinks.   They found a great table for two even though we did not book for lunch. Views are great over the street and down to the bridge. The restaurant is on 3rd floor so you dont see it from the street so it is a little less busy unless you know it's there. Good service and attention to details. Menu was reasonable and had a good selection, wine waiter was knowledgable and had several good suggestions to pair with our food. I thought my veal was done just right and cooked to perfection. The octopus, though not described as such on the English menu, was battered. The batter must not have been hot enough as it was soggy and white inside and the octopus a touch underdone and soggy. The complaint fell on deaf ears. That aside, I would recommend it and come again. Upstairs the bar is fabulous and well worth a visit for the views.   Porto Cruz is a great space for drinks, specially if you want to have the classics Porto Tonics. Also it is a hot spot for the view. I recommend going at night. The only wierd and bad thing is that it close very early, even at summer time, around 12. They control the queue so it is not too crowded when you get there. Most of the spot for your photo with the bridge are taken if you get there almost sunset time. We inadvertently ended up on the rooftop, a separate bar, but it was the fourth floor that truly impressed us—an exquisitely decorated and well-managed restaurant.   Terrible experience! I went to Espaço Porto Cruz 5 or 6 years ago, and it was the perfect place to drink a nice cocktail and chill with an amazing view of the river. I returned there yesterday and it was horrible. They have music playing so loud, that's impossible to chat with your friends. The music is blasting at 5p.m.!! It just doesn't match, the view, the cocktails, everything asks for a chilled environment. The loud music destroyed everything. I'll never go there again. Only downside is that the experience is supposed to come with some sort of explanation but my server didn’t speak English well so I missed out on that part.   What a lovely surprise to find this rooftop in Porto! The plan was to stop by for a little and then make our way to see potential food places. Turns out that we stayed there for several hours! The view is brilliant, the drinks were brilliant but the staff… wow! That was our favourite part. We don’t quite remember our waiter’s name, but he spoke VERY good English and was all about smiles. We found it odd as it is Portugal and they’re not very much known for nice customer service however, he made espaço porto Cruz our favourite place in Portugal.   Top location in Gaia directly at the Duoro River. We had the best port wine tasting of the whole vacation. Taste top and also the chocolates served were first class. Equally great is the rooftop bar with great views of the Duoro, beautiful sundowner spot, great DJ and good drinks. We also had a private dinner, the food was very tasty and the service was top.   I bought a 'package deal' that included Douro Acima's 6 bridges boat tour and a wine tasting for 23 euros (18 for the boat tour alone, so 5 euros for the tasting). No explanation, no tour of the winery, no other tasting. 5 euros for 1 small drink of porto!! You can get this in any bar for much less! Such a rip off, it really angered me.   Fun afternoon at the Porto Cruz wineshop in Gaia. The place stands out from the rest of the Porto wineries for its modern decor and its rooftop bar in case you would like to indulge in a sunset pre dinner drink.   We attended a Port tasting a couple of weeks ago in a group of twelve with six kids in tow! We were hosted by Vasco Garcia, what a gentleman! We all had a very educational and informative few hours and even the kids were kept entertained. Vasco is clearly very knowledgeable and went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing experieince...he ended up spending four hours with us and we had the opportunity to taste some amazing Port, including some pretty special stuff.   A review in two halves: a really cool roof top terrace with just the most amazing views. Even in a chilly December night the bridge lights with the trains passing over was magical. The second half was the restaurant downstairs. Amazingly attentive service, accommodation for me being a coeliac and fantastic wine recommendations. We were given plenty of free samples and yes we succumbed and realised this is a great port house. Definitely added to my wine list back in England!! Highly recommended.   Found this rooftop bar by coincidence and expected it to be too fancy and crowded, however we were pleasantly surprised that it was a pretty relaxed vibe and we managed to find a seat. They have a lot of drinks on offer - a good selection of cocktails too and the view is amazing - you probably can’t find a better rooftop on this side of Porto.   We had a port wine tasting of five ports plus cheeses, crackers and olives. It was a great experience. We sat out on the terrace with a lovely view of the river. Our host Mariana was extremely knowledgeable about each of the wines and their provenance. We learned a lot and the wines were each chilled at the right temperature.   A local tour guide we met said that this was the best place to do a port wine tasting, and they were right! Today we had a tasting guided by Rafael. He was an excellent guide and really conveyed his love for port wines. He was very knowledgeable and made the experience very enjoyable. Most of our group never had tasted port wine but we liked it so much that we bought a few nice bottles to take home. In 20 years when we open the bottles, we’ll remember our trip to Porto Cruz.   This place was recommended to me and I’m so glad we went. We did lunch at the 360 restaurant where we had delicious food and received amazing service. We then did port tasting on the patio with Rafa which was a great experience. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Porto as a lunch with a view and a wine tasting spot.   I cannot thank enough the people working at Espaço Porto Cruz for keeping my handbag safe when I forgot it at the table (pregnancy brain). The whole team was amazing. The wine tasting experience my husband had was perfect and the team took time to explain each wine and how they pair with the cheeses.   Everything you could ask for in one place! The wine tasting experiences are amazing. I’ve been twice, and both Rafael and Mariana were not only incredibly knowledgeable about the history of port wine, but could not have been nicer and more welcoming if they tried. Both of them made these experiences A+ for my friends and I. The rooftop is also a lovely spot to hang out and enjoy the views of the city from the other side of the river.   Wanted to go to rooftop for dinner & a drink, but soooo glad I went to restaurant for dinner. Diana is the go to for wine - ask for her … you won’t regret it. All staff was friendly, but she was the most knowledgeable about wine (which is why I’m in Vila Nova de Gaia, after all!). The lemon bread was also the best bread I’ve had in Portugal (was in Lisbon for a week, been to Pt a number of times). They apparently make it in house- I had to get some to go [take away] for breakfast nibble the next day❤️ I ended up having a wonderful meal (I’m vegetarian- had the eggs w/mushrooms & potatoes- be sure to ask for over hard if you don’t want runny egg yolks!) with a great window seat looking out at the Ponte Luis 1.   The rooftop view is exceptinal and it certainly worth is the visit. sometimes they have a DJ there which can adds up to the experience. The hard part is to find a place to sit and relax as they do not make reservations, you have to be lucky to arrive there and find a spot to chill. The staff are friendly, but be aware that not all of them are able to speak English so make sure to find the right one if you are not a Portuguese speaker. They serve nice cocktails and a good range of wines, prices are higher than other restaurants in Porto, but it is probably due to the location and the view.   The €15 tasting with the chocolate is not impressive. They give you their most basic ports, with no character. You can tell they're going for quantity of people they get through the door, versus serving quality. They know most of the customers are tourists. Go to a proper port winery and get better quality. The rooftop bar view is excellent though. The rest of the exhibitions are boring. I think the best offering here is probably the professional guided tasting that they do in the tasting room.   Porto Cruz are one of the best port wine makers which is sufficient for a visit here alone, but this is arguably the most modern building of all the port cellars in the area.   Porto Cruz are makers of exceptional Port wine, so it was only fitting that they also have an incredible space in which to enjoy it. Inside the multi level building there is a restaurant, rooftop bar, shop and I think a museum of sorts.   We had two port wine tasting menus on the street level seating (tasting menus are not offered on the top floor bar). The guy who gave us an overview of the port wines was really personable and attentive and took his time, must have been 30-40 minutes he spent with us. He also answered a lot of questions we had and made the whole experience very enjoyable. On the next table the person providing the overview must have spent just 10-15 minutes. Maybe it was because we had 2 menus. At the end we were offered a complimentary tasting of two more port wines which was really kind. Wholeheartedly recommend, a must do when in Porto!   As far as locations go, this place is tough to beat. They offer an incredible view over the Douro River. We sat on the 4th floor terrace and enjoyed a beautiful afternoon drink. I don't think this establishment can compete with some of the more historic places in the area, but it does offer a modern twist on the port tasting experience. I would recommend.   This was our first time having a Portwinetasting. We were served by Rafael and he took really good care of us. We loved the presenting of the wines and the wines by it self with the cheese plate.   The manager was misleading when he allowed “privilege” people to skip the line and disregard COVID protocols. We had been waiting for 30 so minutes when some “privileged” people walked up wanting a seat. After the staff told them no, they got on the phone and started calling what I imagined was everyone and their momma to let them in. The manager then came down and let approximately 8 people without checking their temperature. The manager then proceeded to come and talk to my husband and I stating that they let them in because they were dining in the restaurant and not the Terrance. After waiting about five more minutes we were let in, only to find the “privilege” people sitting in the Terrance and not the restaurant. The views and drinks of this place were breathtaking but very sour taste to see how protocols are not being follow and that rules only apply to some people. What a shame.   We visited the roof top, very cool with great views, cocktails are around 7€ for a Mojito, I recommend trying to get there a little early, otherwise you are going to have to wait for over an hour, in wich case I would just go to any other terrace . Pretty loud Hip-hop music , so not for all. Smoking allowed. We got there on a Saturday around 8 pm and had to wait less than 10 minutes.   We had two experiences here. One with a really nice server (she was an intern, can’t remember her name unfortunately) who gave us a very nice port tasting experience. She was both knowledgeable and candid with us. She made us really enjoy the tasting. I would really recommend having the tasting with the chocolates. Something different that I didn’t expect to like. After her recommendation to try the rooftop bar, we came back the next day (around 2 pm on a Tuesday). Unfortunately, the host was extremely rude to us. There was no queue (as in we would be the first in the waiting line) and we were just trying to have a small inquiry if she had just seated people and she was very snappy and borderline rude towards us. It was very unnecessary. I would be more understanding if there was a long queue but we were just inquiring and she could have said “I don’t know” without immediately snapping at us before we even finished our question. Service is amazing and the prices are good as well, except for the beers, in Porto you can easily get a beer for 2/3 euro's while it's 5 here. Nonetheless one of my favourite spots by far.   Amazing view and very nice place to sit and chat for a while. I just didn’t like that tables on rooftop were reserved until 4pm just for lunches, it’s just a way to make you spend more and not necessary at all since it’s always filled with tourists. It was 3.30pm and they still had us order something to eat, otherwise couldn’t use the tables. Wish the space was bigger to accommodate more people.   Lounge on 4st floor has amazing view on the opposite bank of the river if you have right table :) Food was great, but not a lot of variety in menu. Music was too loud for my taste. Service is great. Ladies who work on the first floor were helpful and kind, I bought couple of bottles there.   I could see the appeal to the rooftop bar but as for the restaurant don’t waste your time. I’m not sure what the draw is. My husband and I were thrilled to have gotten a table after reading reviews. The staff they have are sweet but it seems as if they are understaffed. We were the second table seated and waited a while between each visit from the waiter. We ordered ribs for an app, a salad, octopus rice and the shrimp rice. The ribs were tender but very fatty and we waited another 13 minutes for my salad... it never arrived. The waiter seemed very distracted and also a bit stressed. Our meals arrived and they looked delicious, we both started “enjoying” our meals and then finally we both expressed our opinions... my rice tasted as if it had been frozen with bits of peppers, my husband felt as if his rice was comparable to a box of rice a roni.   We love the Riverwalk area. You can even avoid the touristy part of it which is most of it and go over to the riverbank. There are some benches where you can sit with your own bottle of wine and nobody will bother you. If you walk up into the neighborhoods about three blocks you'll find a wine shop where you can buy wine for half the price of the restaurants. After dining in the restaurants and becoming bored of the tourist crowd we found that we were only one of about three couples sitting on the banks of the river watching the sunset.   If you come to visit the cellars of this great wine remember that it isn't here! You can't even make the appointment here. It's just a multimedia house with commercials for the brand, no visits or working multimedia. If you took the boat you get a free complimentary taste of the wine but any more tastes and the price of each taste is exactly the price of the whole bottle at the supermarket... Trust me I checked! Can't say much of the restaurant because we didn't eat there, the terrace was nice. The wine is good but this place is the ultimate letdown of all.   Perfect roof terrace to view sunset at Porto over. We were there in winter in December and the heaters were more than adequate. Fairly priced cocktails for the establishment and a fun port tasting tour to boot.   The roof terrace is what everyone comes for - especially in the summer. There is a bar on the roof (in summer months) which has a stunning view of Porto. There is a restaurant on the third floor if you want food before or after your drinks. The usual Port Wine info/exhibits are also on offer. If you want a view of the roof top terrace before you visit, you can get a great view fro the cable car! Dalva port is served here at the rooftop bar and the measures are generous.
